December mentor of the month: Linda Stockton

Linda’s mentee was referred to the program because she lived with her grandfather, not her parents. She lacked the positive female role model in her life, so Linda stepped in. That was over 3 years ago. To this day, Linda and her mentee continue to meet on a regular basis, furthering their relationship. Linda gives her mentee opportunities to be a young girl, with structure and responsibilities in conjunction with moments of happiness and kid-like activities. She provides her with a balanced lifestyle. Living a life abandoned by parents, Linda’s mentee struggled to find a reason to trust other adults. Linda has continued to uplift her mentee and help her understand that life isn’t fair, but it’s how you handle the rough times that matter. Her mentee has transitioned into middle school with Linda by her side and has gained a solid sense of responsibility and respect with Linda. Thank you Linda for staying patient through the rough times and for understanding that your mentee is in need of you and your care now more than ever.
